I've decided that when these Helios ships are done, I can get a fleet of them to use as a rebel human faction that has allied with the Tau. I wanted to have some Imperial ships converted to make tau allies but them having their own designs would be a lot better.

This has the inevitable result of me spending loads more money on space ships.

Still haven't fitted them into the "grand-horizon-fictional-40k-adapted-universe" tm but I really want to paint them.

Tau allies is a neat idea. But my Tau fleet is already large. My Imperial Navy sits at 1500pts, but two unpainted cruisers left. And then the Zeus CL & Zeus CA also flyin around. The Zeus CL will most likely end up in my Rogue Trader fleet collection, just like the Imperial cruiser + zeus prow. The new zeus cruiser will end up up as a reserve attachment to my Imperial fleet.

Perhaps the new Helios Battlegroup ends up as a new sector which has been cut of from the Imperium for ages (yet somehow having an own Mechanicus with ship templates), waging their own wars and now the vessel is being re-connected with the rest.
hmm, perhaps a new worm hole within the Koronus Expanse?

My Tau fleet is pretty massive.
I've got a lot of the forge world ones, and a second fleet of the specialist games ones (though I've used various other models for the capital ships as I don't like the official ones.)
A powerful human contingent would help put them on the same footing as the imperium and chaos.

Mangozac I suppose from your point of view, any plan that involved buying lots of them would be a good one!

I've noticed on the BFG facebook page there are quite a few people who are showing off pictures of resin addict stuff on there, so they seem really popular. I've tried to send people your way when they've asked about them.

OH wow you have one of the 3ups? An original metal one? What I wouldn't give for an Imperial one of them...

Did they do imperial ones? I only ever see (or own) the chaos one.

I have a question, will the helios ships cost a similar amount to buy as certain other ships?

The chaos one was one ebay a few years back.
It was such a strange thing that I had to have it.
About £30 at the time, because it didnt seem to get much interest at the time.

I don't think there were imperial ones. People keep mentioning them on the internet but I've only ever seen or heard of chaos.

Yeah, I also never seen an Imperial 3up version. I doubt it exists.

I think the Chaos 3up cruiser also differs from the standard cruiser not only in terms of size. There is something differently placed with the weapon batteries. You can notice it in the rulebook as well.

edit: iirc there have been 100 made of that 3up chaos cruiser.
Same enigma as the GW Voss Class light cruisers...
or those preliminary ships they once showed for the Chaos dedicated Battleship (a Khorne variant next to the Terminus Est).

Good prize for it. If you look at some ebay prizes right now... more then 100 euro's for a single ship.
That's ridiculous. Especially if you know that there are certain other ships (from various sources) available.
