first timer needs some advice to create a mold

Postby billyby » Mon Sep 28, 2015 4:46 am

Hi, Im ready to get addicted. Here is my idea: create a cube with a face(open mouth) on the front and two hands on each side turned inwards the cube (Like a imprint inwards the cube).
Since I have no experience Im just guessing how I could do it. Here is like I see it: First- create the molds of the face/hands of alginate. 2 - build a box of for example brown film faced plywood. 3 - make holes - same size as the molds and fix them with glue/latex(molds turned inwards the box). 4 Build a bigger box with no top. 5 Hang the smaller box in to the bigger box - 6 cast a new mold with silicone 7. cast the resin Sculpture from the silicone mold.

Im sure there are better ways to make this mold, therefore im asking you for some advice. thanks!

Sorry mate but I'm really confused as to what you're trying to do :(

How big is this cube? Does it need to be hollow? Depending on these requirements it could be really simple or really complex. Is the face imprinted like the arms?
Oh yeah I can make that....
