With respect to recasting models that are long out of production; to the point where the manufacturing company either:

a) ceases to produce the model anymore or;
b) ceases to even exist

For personal use, and even for friends I have no moral issue with it. Especially if the company doesn't even exist. Doing it and selling them shopping cart or ebay style isn't cool - they might be long OOP, but I imagine they're still under some kind of copyright...

contact the company/sculptor.

if they are long OOP they might give permission or even a licence.. cant hurt..
