I live alone and work nights 5-6 days a week and often out late Saturday if I do not work.
Did not have an alarm or security video at the time. Neighbors say no problems for last 5 years, until a couple months ago then at least a dozen in two months. Had I known two months ago that I could split the install cost of an alarm system over three months, special deal thru my insurance company, then I would have had one right away.
First break in they they popped a widow lock in the front of the house, stole my 55" TV and my laptop.
Second they broke a window so they could remove the locking bar on the window. They stole a desktop monitor, a PC minus the hard drive and case ( motherboard was in the original box so looked new) about 20 playboy magazines and some beer. Funny thing is they dumped out a box of Epic minis including 5-6 warlords, a couple reavers and warhounds and an un-assembled Imperator, so they could carry the beer and porn. They had also looked at my stereo but left it and had moved my blueray player to the room with the computer but I think they forgot to take it.
Third time they broke a widow (back of house) to unlock the sliding one but had screwed in locks so they removed the broken glass and climbed thru the 10" high window 6 feet off the ground. After checking nobody home he let in the others by the front door. They spent over ten minutes in the house before the noticed the security cameras. They go my desktop PC, two more monitors, two sets of computer speakers, camcorder, some power tools, my two USB hard drives (both hidden behind furniture in separate rooms) my network storage drive, install CD's for software and a some other little stuff. The only casting/ modeling item was my digital scale, probably the cheapest thing they stole. What concerns me, and the reason most of my stuff is in storage, is they took a large GW bag to carry things in. I have not found the two boxes that were in that bag, both unopened and with price stickers on them. I know from the video they looked in several boxes with minis in them. If they connect the missing GW product with the box sets, books and minis spread all over the house they may decide to steal my gaming stuff as well. I also know they tried to open my took chest which had about $1500 in measuring tools in it. Someone also moved some storage boxes out of the way so they could unlock my garage door then pushed the boxes back, leaving them an easy way in next time.
I'm sure it's the same people each time based on what was stolen and what was moved once but ignored later.
What pisses me off the most, more than loosing $7000 worth of stuff and spending another $2000 on storage, video and alarm systems and increased insurance premiums, is that the police have done nothing. Three reports and not a single attempt to take prints. The second time they cut themselves and left blood several places, not interested, only do that for major crimes. Delivered a copy of the video to the local station, no contact from the investigators. In fact after almost three months since it started I have not been contacted for any of the three cases.
