I'm new here and just getting back into model building/gaming after a few year hiatus.

I came across this Kickstarter campaign and I'm a fan so I hope to see it get funded.

I've been following the BoLS thread for these. Nice work, though I won't be backing.

Just out of curiosity...Why wouldnt you back it?

I am in no way affiliated with them...but I'm trying to figure out why they havent gotten more supporters.

What don't I know or realize?

Limited toy budget and unlimited interest in lots of games systems.
With 6 40K armies already, I have no room for more! Also, guard don't really interest me.

Oh ok...As a guard player, I really like their sculpts.

I myself am not into 28mm I'm into specialist games. They are fantastic sculpts, the only thing that throws me off, and i don't know how much about production for the consumer, but 5k pounds seems like a lot for it to end up being cast in resin. Someone with better production knowledge of resin miniatures correct me or give some input please.

These are very fine sculpts and i hope to see them in production though.

It is a set of 10 variations on core components. He's charging £16 for a full 10-man squad. That means £1.60 per man, which is very reasonable for quality resin figures.
Anvil Industry effectively charge £1.58 for a Miniatures of the North Imperial Borderer figure.
Victoria Miniatures effectively charge £2.75 for an Arcadian Rifleman.

He'll need to sell 313 10-man squads to reach £5008.
If he's getting them cast for £0.80 per man (cheap), that is £2504 for casting.
He's planning on casting more than just them, of course.

He should have set the goal lower, really. Around £3500. If he charged £17.50, that would be a more attainable 200 casts.

I too thought the 5k was a bit high but I guess that's his prerogative. Would be nice to know the reasoning behind it...

No not sarcastic at all, I have no experience in the business end of this hobby but am majoring in business your insight has helped and educated me. I'm a fan of learning. When I think of these campaigns I believe I would run one just to get the items into production and not try and get a little extra for myself, I see these as campaigns as a valuable tool to help companies get that hard start taken care of. I would not expect money for my Labors as the reward is a full production product I can now sell. I dano just my thoughts.
