Is -27 inches enough to degass resin and silicone?

I have a vacuum pump that only manages to pull 27 inches of mercury (despite the box and advert saying ultimate vacuum...).

I was wondering if this is enough to get the air out of resin and silicone?

The generally accepted number is 29" Hg to degas silicone, IIRC resin is a bit less.

If you already have the pump and chamber give it a test. Your gauge could be reading low.

When you degas the Silicone you should see it foam up to about triple volume then collapse and slowly settle. I've been told you only need about 20-30 sec under full vacuum, if you go too long it boils off things you want in the RTV.
