Japanese resin working

Postby paulson games » Sun Feb 05, 2012 2:32 pm

found some you tube videos by fakefood5656 he's sculpting and some 1/6 scale anime models

videos are in japanese, but at least there's plastic boobies

Shows him vaccum casting at the end of this video

and continues on this video

He's obviously using split molds but the idea of wrapping them in wax paper to create the resevoir never occured to me, will definately give it a try as it's genius.

Hey I love boobs as much as the next guy but when they do that freaky enormous manga style it really turns me off :?

Shame it's in Japanese, as from watching the steps it seems to cover a lot of useful information in the actual model mastering process. The wax paper reservoir is a great idea and would certainly save on silicone costs!
Oh yeah I can make that....

It looks he is using Mr. Surfacer from Gunze as finish via airbrush, to show small scratches to fix and as protection from moulding.

Yeah I noticed that. It's a practice I've gotten into the habit of quite early in my scratchbuilding days and it really is fantastic. That said however, I've been planning to try decanting some Tamiya surface primer into a cup (it only comes in a rattle can) and spraying that on through the airbrush, as it seems to have superior adhesion properties from my experience...
