Really not a fan of the upper arms and shoulders, although I can't really explain why.

I do like the cylinders protruding from the back though! ;)
Oh yeah I can make that....

I found out today (talking to one of the Prosthetic Limb Engineers at a work BBQ) that they use 3D scanners and printers now to produce the "fairings" of artificial legs for people who want one like the other one (it is mirrored for printing) or they will give you a lace or printed-in tattoo one in whatever colour you want.

Brilliant stuff and I'll have a look during the week.

Personally I'm really not a fan. It just looks like you've mashed Gundam and Battletech together into a hybrid that just looks bland. The head and torso are all athletic looking and then you've got those extremely un-dynamic legs; they really don't work well together IMO.

Just my thoughts ;)

So there has been no cleanup or stepping removal at all? Very nice! Please don't play around with the other printing processes ever again!

The heads look great, although I do feel that the neck could have been a little further forward than where it is. And I still wish that you would have bevelled the top side corners a little more :P

Those are shots of the raw print, not casts.

There were a pair of small bumps on the backside, but they popped off with a quick flick of the knife. As it took me all of 30 seconds I didn't consider it "cleaning". So having these come from the printer like this left me pretty amazed and happy as it saves me a boatload of time compaired to previous models. They also cast up very nicely, didn't need any primer they came out of the molds perfectly smooth.

I'll toss some resin shots up soon.

The neck piece can be cut and moved up quite easily. :)

I'm impressed at the print quality then. Even the finest stuff I'd seen previously had striations visible if you looked hard enough.

Wow that is amazing finish for the raw print. I'll have to ask him why my test print still had the subtle visible stepping lines...

More than likely it's the differance between their in-house cleaning vs your raw model.

These were cleaned by the printer, I'm assuming there was some sort of micro sand blasting. If I recall correctly the part you got back was still raw?

Based on what I've seen with this, I'm thinking for your fiddler having him do the cleaning will be well worth it as it'll save boatloads of time having Paul do it at the time of printing.

Also compaired other print companies these are a bit more like a ceramic, if you try and use a hobby knife on them the material can chip pretty easy. If there are any details to alter it may be best to cast it first and work on the casts as opposed to the printed part.

Ahh I didn't realise you got him to do cleanup. If that's the case then it's definitely worth the extra cost!

The prints turned out great.
Is this using the wax printing method?
If it's not to forward what did these two pieces run you?

On a tech side, the holes in the side, how deep are they and how wide?
I found panel lines indented about .3mm worked pretty good, and they need to be .2 across of they just get lost. I'd love to hear your discoveries concerning detail minimums.

Still working on the bodies for these heads?

They are some sort of plastic but a bit brittle like a ceramic so you have to be careful with them. They hold up fine to pressure casting and even metal spin casting, but if you scratch them with a knife they can chip.

Price was just under $60 when shipping was added in, comperable to moddler. (these are vision proto)

Typically any details I tend to keep around .6mm, you can go thinner but they can get a bit too shallow.

I'm stiull working on the bodies, I'm a bit hung up on the leg design so not sure what I want to do with them yet.
