BFG Ship design

Hi All,
Just after a few insights from the assembled greatness.
After deciding that in balancing work, family, house, painting and teaching myself 3d one had to fall off the perch, I need to find a way of imaging potential new ship designs. I have plenty of time near a computer but not enough to learn something new.
I then came across this:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a118/ ... ssShip.jpg

Unless anyone has seen this in approved GW artwork, I'm assuming someone has been playing a bit of chop and change, which sounds pretty cool to me. I do like to indulge in a huge amount of digital faffing about before getting into the bitz box and perhaps into the styrene, so does anyone have any insights on how this was done, or if they have done anything similar? It's done so neatly I figured someone must have written something groovy, in which case I must find it. If it's photoshop or something, I can get into that too.

Any one have any thoughts?
Cheers!

It's always a pleasure to see that I'm inspiring more and more BFG modelling!

As you deduced, the battleship you linked to is just a photoshop from the BFG rules PDFs. You can tell from where the grey background image meets the hull. Personally I think it looks a bit silly that long - in my opinion an Imperial ship larger than a battleship would be larger in all dimensions, not just length. And the weapons batteries would be more compact height-wise but it would have two or more decks of them.

The conversion itself would be pretty simply to do. Although the fact that the model is metal requires much stronger structural work on the extended sections - I'd be inclined to recast the forward hull in resin to make life easier. Then the extra battery section would simply be another cast chopped up...

Thanks for the reply Zac,
Don't worry (I probably disappointed you there), I have something much more interesting in mind that just building an extended BB, it's really the concept of designing using the bits and pieces in that format, distorting etc, that could allow you to really play around before hitting plastic. I could really play around digitally before building.
I"ll have a go but found a some really cool stuff online, someone digitally building alternate body and prow sections you can drop in and play around with.
I'll come back with some designs and see what you think!

I always figured that everybody has had a go at photoshopping the ships in the PDFs? I know I've tried out some ideas like that!

Look forward to seeing your plans!
