Also looks like a company specialising in miniatures, which is cool.

have you put the models on stands yet ? I wouldn't be able to resist seeing what they looked like in formation :)

I'm need to tweak the prints a bit and get them cast by Fox Box. Hopefully in early 2015 (which is in a matter of weeks) I'll be able to give you a decent update on that!

In the meantime, I got super inspired by seeing this picture:

Been wanting to do something based on that...dunno where it will end...

The yellow ship is odd, but the rest of the painting is awesome!

The tower is kinda what Zac was saying about an understructure covered with armoured plates. I look forward to seeing how you projects develop.

Don't really care about the yellow ship either, what gets me more interested is the tower itself (been wanting to design a hive tower like structure for a long time), and the idea of having smaller scaled space craft (more Millennium Falcon sized stuff and fighters) dog fighting between/around those towers.

Not sure yet what this would entail, but it could be a very cool experience in (a) playing with different types of models (smaller ships and structures) and (b) actually trying to incorporate Mangozac's feedback into my designs. :)

Flying around towers and gun turrets with fighters sounds quite appealing. The starwars x-wing game has some weapon turrets and death star scenery boards for the same thing.

But if you were going with designs that are more like the tower in your pic, that would be really cool to see.

The tower designs can be quite cool, I already have plenty of ideas for those (been having them for a really long time). The aircraft/ships themselves are a bit trickier, (a) scale is a bit of a problem. The scale of the terrain would have to be totally different from the aircraft/ships if you want it to be workable. (b) not totally sure yet in what direction the ship design should go. I recently saw Guardians of the Galaxy and I really love that blue ship the protagonists use. However this has also been getting me really excited. And I've always been really in love with ForgeWorld's Chaos Fighters (Hell Blade and Hell Talon) designs.

As you can see I still need a lot to ponder about...

The ship in your link is very nice, like a millennium falcon for the EVE online universe.
I'm always thinking of projects too lol I have been playing around with making space craft for years as well and have about 9 ships in mid construction.

With fighters, personally I think 1/500 scale would work well so each fighter would be around 2.5cm long, this allows you to make other sized vessels without getting too big to handle. as for the towers, you could think of them more like comms arrays rather than hive cities.

How about you share some pictures of those ships? :D

It's a tricky thing. Need to kinda figure out what other scales are commonly used. I've been very tempted to make the ships in Epic/6mm/1:285 scale, so the aircraft/ships could also be used for those type of games. However, the terrain project has always been something...well...perhaps I should then see it as separate from these aircraft/ships. I've been wanting to make a model of a hive city, or at least a sort of similar structure. Another idea might be that I still make all this stuff in BFG scale. So the structures/terrain in the scale of BFG terrain, and the aircraft basically the scale of ordnance. Since fighters and such in BFG operate on a way different scale level, stuff based on 1/500 or 1/1200 wouldn't be that far fetched for that kinda stuff.

You seem to be suffering from one of my main issues (er, one of several, that is)... The need to do ALL THE THINGS!

Don't get me started on that! I've got a million thing I want to do at once. I'd like to improve my space ship building skills and redo the 'Trade Guild' (the ones I've had printed) and 'Raider' ships, I'd also like to return to my more Homeworld influenced stuff, then there are the creepy robotic hounds and other robotic nightmare creatures. Then there's aircraft, I've really been wanting to do a tribute to FW's Hell Talon/Blade. Oh and build a BFG scaled hive tower, new versions of Ork ships, space hulk terrain, etc. etc. etc.

But yeah, started a bit of work on the tower:

Note that this is still me figuring out the basic shape of the thing, and working on the understructure. Also, I've kinda taken a break about pondering too much about castability and printability. I guess those could be figured out later by either upscaling certain details and/or cutting up the model into smaller pieces.

Not sure yet what I wanna do with this. It's basically me trying to build a tower, but the scale is still a bit of a mystery. At first I imagined it to be a complete city, the model is about 15cm tall, so it would have been perfect for BFG scaled stuff. However, since it's standing on a planet's surface, it might not be that interesting for such games. I could keep the model the same and count it as an Epic scaled thing, which in itself could be interesting. Or keep it at the 28mm scale, and have it be some sort of broadcast tower.

Or maybe forget about the whole model and approach it as an artwork piece...

Options, options, options!

Or, well, design a planet strike/orbital attack supplement for BFG.

Ray Bell (ha) was working on such a thing.

Ha, now that's tempting! Or I should try to size it in such a way that it could be used for Planetary Empires!

The tower looks like it would suit many uses in several scales, looking good.
