Thanks for the feedback, I'm gonna try that out! :)

An alternative, if you were looking for a heavier look, would be to move the prow lance to the top of the ship and connect it to the engine section, while splitting the bridge into a wider or twin-peaked structure, perhaps a touch like a star destroyer, or even standard issue imperium cruisers.

As for a lighter model, I agree with Vaaish that the prow lance needs shortening (or moving). The side lances could be pressed deeper inboard, so that about 50% protrudes from the edge of the standard hull (ie, the outside of the sloped part just back from the prow).

Hmm, I'm almost tempted to now do two versions: the lighter 'sniper' frigate, following Vaaish suggestion; and then a heavier 'siege' frigate following your suggestions. I can't help but think of the cannon on top of ...

Lance Destroyer as good as ready, any final feedback before I ship it off for printing?

Started working on my tribute/interpretation of a . Also heavily influenced by .

The craft has been dubbed the 'Felis class Stealth Ship'. It's a tiny bugger (9.25mm tall, 29.01mm long, 9.89mm wide) that carries weapons that can exterminate entire planets or elite units (including assassins) meant to take out specific targets. A very fast, stealthy, and deadly ship, but totally vulnerable once discovered.

And compared to some of the other ships I've done.

Left (top to bottom): Lynx class Destroyer, Pardinus class Lance Destroyer, Felis class Stealth Ship
Right (top to bottom): Panthera class Heavy Frigate, Escort Carrier (still needs a name), Defence Monitor (still needs a name)

The base disks have a diameter of 6mm, it makes them fit in a normal 6mm wargaming bases like . :)

Browsed through NASA's database and found a relatively high-res asteroid, so I thought: lets try to make a Novan mining station. I imagine that most mining would be done on asteroids, basically strap a whole bunch of engines on them and then suck it dry.

I'm running into a couple of issues though:
1) NASA doesn't have many different high-res asteroids files, most are pretty low resolution and just look like blobs.
2) These will be pricy to produce since they are basically massive chunks of material that need to be printed, as solid models they'd also be rather heavy, unless you go for resin.
3) One of the fun things with asteroid stations and such is the modelling itself.

A sollution is to make a modelling kit. There are many ways you can make easy asteroids as seen and . But a small baggy of 'station bits' could really add a bit of character. So various thrusters, turrets, buildings/towers, landing bays, docking stations, etc.

Your thoughts?

Make it some kind of greeble kit? So it can be used for ships, stations, asteroid mines... maybe even 3-6mm building, depending on look (at least some parts could be).

New prints in:

First up, the Felis class Stealth Ship:

(length of this ship is about 30mm)

Second up: System Ships:

(depending on what prow you give them they are about 50mm long)
