Tell me about it! It's crazy, because mechanically these machines are extremely simple. There's only a single mechanical axis that needs to be controlled, which would cost all of about $30 in electronic parts to do.

My understanding is that the biggest obstacle for these DLP 3D printer builds is sourcing an appropriate (high res, acceptably priced) DLP unit to project the slice image.

Oh and apparently slicing the model is an extremely simple thing to do in software. They say that a normal modern graphics card will do it very quickly and easily...
Oh yeah I can make that....

Just a heads up for another DIY 3D printer, which looks quite good: http://b9creator.com/

You can pick one up on kickstarter for $2379 (requiring assembly, or $1000 more for fully assembled).

The B9 is hot! Hopefully it will be available for a little less in a year or two.

Actually that's what I keep reading. It's obvious that the DIY DLP printers are becoming more prolific, and people say that in another year or two we're going to be start seeing really impressive low cost machines. Repraps will become largely redundant except for applications requiring high strength (although that could change too as better photo-cure resins are developed).

Nope, I don't think I even have an account there. AVAMANGO must be a pretty cool guy if you think we might be the same person :P

lol, well the name on his account is Zac. However he is listed as living in the UK.

He seems pretty cool but he doesn't have your humility :P
