The aim of this thread is not to share techniques per se, but rather for sharing little tips and tricks that are otherwise lost inside larger threads discussing various topics. If you have or read a good tip please post it as a reply to this thread and I will update this main post with it. Please include credit for your tip where possible
Without further ado I'll start with the two tips mentioned today that inspired this thread.
- Pour your unmixed resin from the large storage bottles into squeeze sauce bottles for daily use (tip from Paulson_games here).
- Resin doesn't stick very well to Acetyl, making it a handy material to make mould supports from. HDPE also has similar properties, but isn't as strong (tip from Anvil's Hammer here).
- Finding the line and splitting a two part mold can sometimes be a pain, even with mold release, smear a very thin layer of vaseline along the top edge of the mold (not the bottom as it could cause leaking) to ensure you can find the line and pull the mold apart instantly with no hassel. Even lazier method- put a "tab" of sellotape on one corner of the mold before pouring the second half! (Anvil's Hammer).
