Leviathans: something different

Recently I was given a box set of a game called Leviathans and I promised to paint up the 8 models that came with it. It's a rather fun game that has much of the feel of BFG but easier to explain and quicker to play, but the pre-assembled and pre-painted models are something of a travesty. The casts are good, but the assembly has everything from gigantic gaps to glue fingerprints over the hull and each ship was cast with an obnoxiously large number of pieces. I think the destroyers here are somewhere around 13 or 14 pieces. Anyway, it's also fortunate that the amount of glue was rather light so they crack apart fairly easily so everything was easily fixed.

These two are the first batch and the counterpart British destroyers are on the table next. Enjoy.

How big are they? You're really painted them up beautifully - really interesting to see how well your painting style transfers to other genres!

These are pretty small. Around 2.5 inches. They go up to the battleship which is bout 6"

And we are done with the British DD's. Well, not quite, still need some varnish to make them ready for play but after that we are good. Next in line is the french cruiser. It's all ready cleaned up,gap filled, and ready for priming, but it'll be a few weeks till that happens.

Wow now that looks stunning! The blue metal finish is really something else. The funny thing is that the skill required is not obvious - most people would look at it and assume that the shading is just natural from the lighting!

Yeah these guys turned out much better. I need to figure out light to lighter like on the french stuff. Probably should have highlighted to a near white higher up on the model and started teh superstructure at the dark gray green instead of treating it as a single gradient from the bottom to top.

looks like that game has some good sculpts. I look forward to seeing the big stuff
