I'm curious how much those cost? Something tells me it's the price of a smaller house, and knowing me if given the choice I'd be sleeping in a cardboard box and printing miniatures where ever I could find a working power outlet.

So, who's going to make the call as to how long it will take until we get working 3D printers that will do a reasonable sized object, will fit on a desk top and cost less than a grand?

I believe the machine in that video was less than 1500 Eruos and it's the size of a coffee can.

To Pig's point, the print surface is usually related to the size of the machine. The guy did print out a skull that seemed fist-sized. That's big enough for my needs. Only thing that sucked about this video is that he made no mention of if or when it will be available for sale.

Three years ago they were predicting that desktop size 3D printers would be available for $5000-$10000. AFAIK nothing is even close to that price point except the DIY kits that have poor resolution.

He did mention in the video that it cost under 1500 in parts, Depending on what discounts he got a mass produced version would take about 1/3 of that in parts and a final sale price probably in the 1700-2000 range.
