Hi I am a new member that is dabbling in casting resin pen blanks and stabilizing timber for the same use

Ahh very nice. So are you moulding the barrels in silicone for casting? It it hard to get the pearl effect in the resin?

I am using these molds called resin savers,

The brass tubes fit into the plugs, saves resin, drilling and less spoil on the inside of the tubes to clear.

This style are mainly used to do clear casting, feathers, gems, watch parts, flowers etc. Round, square or rectangular are better for the pearl effect and swirling.

Those look pretty sweet, very shiny and I love the colors swirls. Do you use a specific type of resin to get the swirls or is it an additive that you mix in?
