I've never made a mold nor cast anything... I do have a project, but my request for bids has nothing like a price-point reasonable for the project.
So, either I try new bids or go into the business myself (I have an opportunity to buy an existing business).
Imagine a one inch long rectangle 3/8th inches per other sides. Then, cubes 3/th inches per side. Finally, a flat rectangle, one inch by 3/8th inches by 3/32 inches.
Those are the pieces needed. Masters provided.
35 total per set, 210 per group.
Each set is a different color, one side weighted for each.
That's the project. This could be one group; probably a few dozen and maybe many more. A guarantee of 13 sets if the quality is sufficient from the first batch.
Of six requests for bids I received one return. $840 for set-up and $4 per piece.
This is not affordable for a project needing 210 pieces each for a total of $8 for 210. These are game pieces for a game to be sold at $20. Board, box, rules and art are costing $2.
Now, to get the price needed, do I have to make them, myself? Could that even be cheap enough? Or, do I need to find a different method of manufacture? (Standard injection molding creates a pretty poor product. I want something nice!)
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
