Hi guys,
Just a quick review of the Bambi.
Firstly, it came with very basic instructions. For a novice such as myself it was a bit daunting. After filling it with oil, I turned it on and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was. I know they're sold as silent but I was a little sceptical to be honest. It vibrates a little but I've set it on a padded board and it now just hums away.
The fill time isn't rapid taking several mins but for what I need it for its fine. If you we're using it for air tools etc i think you'd probably want one of the double pump models.
It has a little filter that the air passes through to remove moisture and oil, but I've added another filter on the air hose just to be safe.
The biggest "annoyance" was that it came with no air hose, and finding one round where I live proved to be a real pain. In the end I mail ordered one, but I didn't realise I needed a male / female hose... And ordered a female / female... Again a schoolboy error of not checking before clicking "buy".
When I finally got everything set up (I have a pressure pot from Bambi too, which also came with no instruction ) I struggled to get enough pressure into the pot. This was again down to inexperience with the equipment and after twisting various knobs, levers and gauges I finally got it figured.
The machine runs great, is really quiet ( around 40 dB ) and is much smaller than I expected. Downside is lack of instructions for novices, it's thirst for Bambi specific oil and the cost (3 times the cost of a cheaper noisey compressor ) . I should note too that the costs on the website do not include 20% VAT which is payable in addition
Have made a few moulds of simple dominoes etc just to get a feel for it all. Moving on to other bits this coming week. Would recommend the brand to anyone who wants to mould or cast under pressure but has noise limits to take into consideration. Mine is in my office and doesn't interfere with anyone's work.
Cheers
Adam
