So far I'm digging your design. I'm still not totally sold on those big wings on the back, but that's just a matter of taste perhaps. I would add those 'plates' from the front wings to the back wings as well.

Will those two big turrets also get barrels or something along those lines?

What is the function of this corvette by the way? That way I can perhaps provide some more focussed feedback and suggestions.

The two main turrets will receive barrels after casting, due to their thickness (or lack of). It's much easier just to provide some thin styrene rod. These turrets themselves are QF, or Quick-Fire, guns and are specific to the Corvette variant of this design. I've done the stats and crunched the numbers over on Specialist Arms (link in first post of this thread), but basically they're short-ranged escort shredders. Range 15cm and firepower twice their equivalent in normal weapons; dorsal mounts only, escorts/transports/small vessels only.

The corvette is a fast ship, apparently the only fast type in the whole Imperium, but let's ignore that for a moment. It's a fast interceptor, kind of like a police/coast guard role. Originally intended for system use, they're what might go and bring a freighter in from the edge of a system. They carry fighters in the launch bays, and originally would've had shuttles with voidsmen for boarding actions if necessary (in the same way a modern coast guard vessel might carry RIBs). They're not a warship as such, but hey, when the Imperial Navy says jump, you jump. When pressed into IN service, their LB 1 also gains Caestus (I think) Assault Rams, which are somewhat more efficient at boarding actions, because they aren't even remotely deterred by a locked door.

No stats on it as yet, but it's looking like:
QF 4, dorsal
LB 1
Speed 30+d6
Turns 90, 45 above 25cm
+d6 speed (extra thrusters) - lost when taking any movement penalty (crippled, asteroids, blast marker)
Ld+1 for all ahead full rolls
Turret 2-3 (+1 from being a carrier, already above average from being an anti-escort anti-ordnance ship).

In its Hunter variant, a pair of larger guns are included (pictured earlier in this thread), along with torpedo launch tubes. (I do believe you saw these in place, but they're not currently attached as I've had to revert to the corvette to add the latest changes)

In terms of names, they are the Hastatus-pattern Phalanx (Corvette) and Hastatus-pattern <destroyer of some description> (Hunter)... Still no name on the Hunter variant yet, need to find 3 related terms to do the three escorts. Already a name set for the Strike Cruiser and Battle Barge classes.

As for names, here are some suggestions:
-Venator
-Mamba
-Javelin
-Dagger

Strike Cruisers and Battle Barges? Will you be making those as well?

A strike cruiser is planned, directly from this hull. Battle barge still in the pipelines somewhere, not entirely sure how it should look...

I'm not going to argue about how to split it up - your proposed way will work but IMO it's not ideal. You'll need to add some venting, otherwiseI would expect bubble issues in the engine/wing assembly.

Are you going to print with a hole for the stem or drill that in later?
Oh yeah I can make that....

I'm actually tempted to give GW the finger and complete my Roman-themed line-up with the Gladius, Hasta, and Pilum. That's Sword, Spear and Heavy Javelin respectively, and they line up nicely with guns, torps and lances as primary armament on the three escorts.

Of course by calling it the Gladius, I get to give GW the finger, which I don't oppose in the slightest. GW might have a ship of the same name, but the Romans got there first, and seeing as my entire line-up is Roman-themed, I have as much a right to use it as they do.

Thus my ships would be:

Hastatus-pattern:
Phalanx-class Corvette
Gladius-class Gunship [Gladius proxy]
Hasta-class Torpedo ship [Hunter proxy]
Pilum-class Lance ship [Nova proxy]

Princeps-class Assault Cruiser [Strike Cruiser proxy]

Triarius-class War Barge [Battle Barge proxy]

Speaking of which, anyone else think the regular strike cruisers look really derpy?

Do let me know if you have the size of the stem, I will need to do something similar for my ship(s).

Which reminds me, are you going to hollow out the ships before printing? Or will they be solid prints?

These are about the size of a cobra, so I can't afford to hollow them out.

Thanks mangozac

Hmmm. I suppose I'll have to print the holes... Otherwise I have the rather unpleasant task of drilling holes into bronze masters, or I can try and make moulds from resin casts. I don't know how much the copy would degenerate, but not sure I want to risk it.

Now I just have to guess at where the balance point lies... Meh.

Wait, you're gonna get the stuff printed in bronze? :O

Printed in jewellers' wax, then investment cast in bronze, and that'll be my master ^^
